Watch Colin Meloy of the Decemberists Play New Songs on a Brooklyn Street
While residents of Brooklyn worry about a possible impending Ebola outbreak, the Decemberists frontman Colin Meloy did his part to cheer everyone up today (Oct. 24) by busking on a New York City street.
With only 40 minutes notice via Twitter, Meloy played a surprise solo acoustic set near the corner of Bedford and 7th in Williamsburg this afternoon to announce the band's upcoming seventh album, 'What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World.'
Performing in front of a mural of the album's cover art, Meloy played a handful of Decemberists classics including 'The Crane Wife,' 'The Engine Driver' and 'Don't Carry it All' along with two new songs -- 'Make You Better' and 'Lake Song,' the latter you can view above -- from the upcoming album, which Meloy also revealed will be released Jan. 20. "We're announcing it next week," he said. "Don't tell anybody."
