A Royal KC Draft Horse Show is scheduled for May 22-24 at the American Royal Complex in Kansas City.  And it's going to be huge - which is an appropriate adjective to use to describe the show and the horses.  The best part is, you can go for free!

Wait, What's a Draft Horse?

If you're asking, you must not work on a farm, ha! To make a very complicated thing very simple, a draft horse are the big ones. Think Belgians, Percherons, Clydesdales. They're all different kinds of draft horses. You know how there are a ton of different breeds of "working dog"? It's a similar thing. There are a ton of different horses that are used for work, and the biggest of the big tend to be called draft horses. Draft horses are bred for their strength and endurance, typically weighing between 1,800 and 2,400 pounds, and standing 16-19 hands high. Big horses.  They're basically gentle giants.

Great, So What Were You Saying About Something For Free?

Yes!  There's a big show of draft horses coming up in Kansas City.  It's going to be held at the American Royal Complex, and it's a huge deal.  They'll have a ton of food trucks, vendors, the whole shebangabang.   They've got a Belgian Unicorn, a timed obstacle course, Ride a Draft Class, Classic Series Cart, Costume Class, Vintage Vehicle Farm Team, it's just loaded with different events.  Like, if you bring a kid to this, they'll be talking about horses for MONTHS.   Organizers said on their Facebook page that is the first draft horse show at the American Royal complex in 25 years.
