ADA Sidewalk Improvements Coming To Knob Noster
The Missouri Department of Transportation is in the planning stages of making sidewalk improvements at various locations in Knob Noster. MoDOT is seeking community feedback regarding this project and will hold an open house to inform the community of the construction project while soliciting feedback from residents.
MoDOT will improve the sidewalks at various locations along Business 50/McPherson Street between Washington Avenue and Sunshine Lane. And at various places on Johnson County Route J from Allen Street to South of McKissock. Most of these improvements are ADA upgrades to existing sidewalks.
MoDOT is hosting an open house-style hearing where community members can view project details, ask project leaders questions, and submit comments on the project to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
This hearing will take place at First Christian Church, 101 South Monroe Avenue, Knob Noster, 65336, from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. MoDOT will accept comments on the proposed sidewalk and ADA improvements in Knob Noster starting at 4:00 PM CDT on Wednesday, August 21, until 11:59 PM CDT Wednesday, September 4.
Construction for the project is still a couple of summers away. It's scheduled for the spring and summer of 2026 through the end of 2027. MoDOT says motorists may notice various land and shoulder closures in the project area, and access to driveways and entrances in the project area may be impacted. Additionally, during MoDOT's construction, the City of Knob Noster will also be executing a separate project to make pedestrian improvements along these routes.
Learn more about the project here. It is estimated to cost $3.03 million. MoDOT is funding it through the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, a combination of state and federal safety funding.
