Are You A Facebook Addict?
I’m on Facebook (facebook.com/bruceinthemorningshow) and Twitter (@bruceitmorning). A LOT! Some might say I’m addicted, but it’s part of my job! That’s the excuse I’m going with anyway.
Researchers at the University of Bergen in Norway have developed a way to tell whether you’re becoming addicted to Facebook. Women, introverts, and people who are disorganized are more likely to develop a problem. The researchers also came up with six questions that will help determine whether you’re addicted.
Using a scale of one to five, rate how closely each question relates to you. If you give yourself a four or a five on at least four of the questions, you might be an addict.
#1.) Do you spend a lot of time thinking about Facebook, or planning HOW you’ll use it?
Me: 4. But it IS for work. Honest.
#2.) Do you feel an urge to use Facebook more and more?
Me: 4 Again, same reason
#3.) Do you use Facebook to forget about personal problems?
Me: 1
#4.) Have you tried unsuccessfully to quit or cut down?
Me: 1. I haven’t tried.
#5.) Do you become restless or troubled if you’re prohibited from using Facebook?
Me: 4 I get extremely anxious when Facebook messes up. I like to be able to do my job.
#6.) Has using Facebook had a negative impact on your job or studies?
Me: 1. Although my boss may say otherwise. But what does he know?
See? I knew I wasn’t an addict. How about you? Take the quiz and give us your score!
P.S. True addicts can justify anything. Just sayin’.
