Congratulations to those who work across the street at the Missouri State Fair and to all those West Central Missourians who take the time to help make our State Fair happen every summer! Why? Yelp named the Missouri State Fair one of the "Ten Best State Fairs To Experience This Summer."

We're in good company, too, because when our Fair is mentioned in the same breath as the Minnesota State Fair, the Iowa State Fair, and the granddaddy of all state fairs, the State Fair of Texas, it shows that we're doing very well. I hope somewhere BARTholomule will get to give Big Tex, the symbol of the State Fair of Texas, a big 'ol high five!

Here's what Yelp had to say about the Missouri State Fair:

"Since 1901, the Missouri State Fair has brought the state together for some healthy competition: to award the best in agriculture, livestock, food and arts all in one place. With so much to see and do, you’ll want a full day of exploring and eating your way through the fairgrounds. Once your stomach has settled from all the fair food, head to the midway for a dose of nostalgia and some carnival rides, flying high above the fairgrounds. Adult advance admission is $12."

Additionally, the Yelp article contained a quote from Yelp user Paula B, who called the Missouri State Fair a not-to-be-missed event and specifically gushed about how fairgoers can see the fruits of 4-H and FFA members while pointing out that it's an excellent showcase for Missouri's youth. She also likes the carnival and mentioned how the concerts are always varied.

Paula's quote from Yelp should bring a smile to those who work for the Missouri State Fair. At its core, the Fair's mission is to promote excellence in Missouri agriculture while cultivating and supporting future leaders in agriculture and providing opportunities for the ag community to show off how important agriculture is in our lives, even if we're more interested in the concerts or seeing the butter cow. So, to have a Yelper focus on that in her review and then have it make Yelp's list is pretty cool.

Congratulations once again to all who make our Missouri State Fair one of the best in the nation!
