Johnson County R-7 School District Crest Ridge High School is vying for a multi-million dollar grand prize that could give Friday Night Lights a new look for the Cougars.

Crest Ridge is one of 16 finalists out of 1,700 entries chosen by T-Mobile to compete for the grand prize in their Friday Night 5G Lights contest. They are also the only Missouri High School to make the finals. Crest Ridge's football facility can undoubtedly use the upgrades. The school outlined why they think they think you should vote for them and give them the prize in their Instagram post:

Their football field was built in 1982 by local farmers and was renovated once in the early 2000s to reduce the hump. However, it still has a large crown in the middle. The field is used six nights a week for flag football, youth tackle football, junior high football, junior varsity football, and varsity football.

Local farmers also built the gravel track in 1982. The track has never been upgraded, which results in poor training conditions and unsafe conditions for the Crest Ridge cheerleaders.

The stadium's capacity is about 400 people, yet 600 people regularly attend Crest Ridge's football games to see them take on the likes of Knob Noster, Holden, and Lone Jack. The stadium's press box was built in the early 2000s and cannot fulfill the needs of coaches, workers, or broadcasters.

The Locker room was built in the late '90s, has never been remodeled, and doesn't have enough space, and 95 students use the weight room throughout the school day with outdated, broken, and nasty equipment.

Crest Ridge's athletes are asking us to rebuild their house. How can we do that? By going to the T-Mobile website, clicking on the Crest Ridge logo on the map, and liking their Instagram post, or visiting the Crestridge Cougar Instagram page and liking the post. It's that simple.

It sounds like farmers built Crest Ridge students a field of dreams, but now, it's our turn to help them out and help them get a facility that will serve their needs for another 25 years. Like the post here now, before it's too late. Also, please send it to your friends and ask them to do it. Let's help Crest Ridge push this over the top!
