Dare to Explore East St. Louis’ Abandoned Buildings?

One of my goals in life is to never plan anything that involves me having to even drive through East St. Louis, Illinois. Some urban explorers decided to be brave and see what remains inside abandoned buildings in this lost city. What they found was eerie.

Somehow this abandoned building search in East St. Louis, Illinois escaped me until just recently. K-Brew on YouTube captured video and pics of what little remains inside some of the city's many abandoned places.

Would I recommend you attempt something like what these urban explorers did? No freaking way. Walking through East St. Louis on a good day can be a dangerous proposition. Going in an empty building could bring you face-to-face with elements of crime that you may not get a second chance to regret. It's sad that so many historic buildings in East St. Louis rich with culture have fallen into ruin like what these guys found. The window of opportunity for preservation and restoration closed a long time ago. At least some residents are old enough to have memories of when this area was great (and safe).
