Sad day in the music world for those of you growing up and listening to the group Hot Chocolate. Errol Brown, singer of "You Sexy Thing", died yesterday after a battle with liver cancer. He was 71. He was the lead singer of the '70s funk band Hot Chocolate, and their song "You Sexy Thing" was a Top 5 hit in 1976. The band actually got their start when John Lennon heard their reggae version of "Give Peace a Chance". That got them signed to Apple Records.
Brown was born in Jamaica in 1948 and later moved to the United Kingdom. He was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2003. A year later, he received the Ivor Novello award, Britain's most prestigious music award, for outstanding contribution to British music.
