As you probably know, I am a huge blues music fan. On Saturday, June 2, the Sedalia Lions Club have their Blues Cruise and BBQ Festival.  Rather than talk about the great food and live music, I'd like to talk more about why this event is so important to our community.

Sedalia is very lucky to have so many civic organizations that do such great work for our community, and the Lions Club is certainly a leader in this area.  They give money to many charitable organizations, they've built a Habitat for Humanity House, and they provide eye glasses to area students who can't afford them.  One of my favorite things they do is taking kids shopping at Christmas time for shoes.

They do such great work, and in order for them to be able to do that, they need fundraisers. The Blues Festival is one of those fundraisers.  This year the date has changed to June 2. It starts at noon and lasts all day. This year it's in the Swine Pavilion to avoid the storms that hit almost every Blues Festival.

There is a tailgate competition with cash prizes, great food, great music, and a great time. Here's the band lineup:
