Five people were injured in a wrong-way crash that occurred early Wednesday morning in Boone County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2013 Nissan Murano, driven by a 20-year-old man from Grandview was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of I-70, just east of the 115.8 mile marker around 3:15 a.m., when the Nissan struck an eastbound 2012 Toyota Camry and an eastbound 2019 Acura RDX.

Injured were the driver of the Nissan and two passengers (a 25-year-old man from Grandview with serious injuries and a 28-year-old man (unknown location) with moderate injuries, and the driver of the Toyota, a 27-year-old man from San Diego, Calif., and his passenger, a 21-year-old female from Fort Benning, Ga., both with minor injuries.

All of the injured were transported to MU University Hospital in Columbia.

The Acura had extensive damage, while the Camry and Murano were totaled. All three vehicles were towed.

20-year-old Jordan A. Bell-Shields was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, no seat belt, no insurance, and careless and imprudent driving involving a crash.
