The Sedalia Senior Center is hopping this fall!  Here's a look at at few things they've got going on.  Make your plans to join them!
Friday, September 9 they will be having their monthly Senior Dance from 7 to 10 PM in the dining room at the Center located at 312 South Washington. The band this month will be Wayne and the Misfits. Admission is $5.00 per person at the door and they ask that participants bring a dish for the carry-in dinner. They are proud to have their dances sponsored by Johnson-Bay Auction Service, Katherine Nickel of Coldtheyll Banker/Monsees Realty, and Gill Signs.

On Wednesday, September 14 they will have a lunchtime presentation on Weatherizing Your Home for the Winter. The presentation will start at 11:15 AM.

On Friday, September 16 at 10:00 AM they will have the monthly Foot and Nail Clinic provided by Oxford Health Care. A $5.00 donation is requested for this service.

On Wednesday, September 21 they will have a special Fried Catfish dinner at lunchtime. Included in the meal will be catfish, hushpuppies, roasted potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, Texas Cake, and Alaska Cake. The cost of the meal is the same as it always is - persons under the age of 60 are welcome to join us for $7.00. Persons over the age of 60 are invited to eat for a donation of their choice. Carry-out is available for $7.00.

Also on Wednesday, September 21 Care Connection for Aging Services will be providing a presentation on Medicare 101 with Staci Gilkeson at 4:00 PM in the dining room at the Senior Center. There is no charge for this presentation and it will include a lot of valuable information for persons who are starting to try to navigate the Medicare system.

On Thursday, September 22 they will be observing Fall Prevention Day at the Senior Center with a variety of activities and a presentation from Bothwell Regional Health Center at lunchtime.

The monthly fundraising dinner will be held on Tuesday, September 27 from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. The cost of the meal is $6.00 per person and the meal will include meatloaf, hash brown casserole, baked beans, and corn with apple or cherry pie and ice cream for dessert.

One thing they won't do is there will be no craft class at the Senior Center in September. Craft class will resume the second Tuesday of October.

But they're also having a creative writing contest.  The deadline for entry to that is September 29.  There's no entry fee.  They'll have categories for non fiction and fiction as well poetry.  You can get some details at the Center, at Boonslick and the Sedalia Public Library, and at Reader's World.

Whew!  You know, they keep busy down there!  Make sure you join in on the activities!

Busily yours,

Behka
