Donut Frenzy: Krispy Kreme In Sedalia And The Burg?
If you're a fan of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, you'll eventually be able to get them in Sedalia, Warrensburg, and throughout West Central Missouri. Sort of, anyway.
No, Krispy Kreme isn't expanding its doughnut shop empire with new stores, complete with the "hot doughnuts now" sign in the window. You'll still need to drive to St. Louis, Springfield, Branson, or Cape Girardeau to scratch that itch.
However, Krispy Kreme has partnered with a major fast-food restaurant to bring the goodness that is Krispy Kreme Doughnuts to all of Missouri. That fast-food restaurant happens to be McDonald's.
The McDonald's Mo website and the McDonald's corporate website, are touting the new partnership. The restaurant and donut shop are planning a phased market rollout of the doughnuts at McDonald's and nationwide availability at participating restaurants is expected by the end of 2025.
Krispy Kreme and McDonald's say Krispy Kreme's iconic original glazed doughnuts, The chocolate iced with sprinkles doughnut, and the chocolate iced kreme filled doughnut will all be available at McDonald's. Customers can buy them individually, or in boxes of six, starting at breakfast and lasting throughout the day as long as supplies last.
Additionally, and this is key, the doughnuts will be delivered fresh to McDonald's restaurants every day. If there's one thing I've noticed about buying Krispy Kreme's in the grocery store, and it's been a bit since I did that, it's almost as good as getting them from a Krispy Kreme shop. They're surprisingly good. So daily delivery seems like a perfect idea.
Yet how about going one step further? How 'bout keeping the Krispy Kreme's warm? You can't tell me our own Duke Manufacturing couldn't come up with a doughnut warmer that McDonald's could stick in a corner behind the counter so that you can always get that hot doughnuts now experience at McDonald's too. That would be a home run if you ask me.
In the McDonald's press release, Krispy Kreme President and CEO Josh Charlesworth says, “The top request we receive from consumers, every day, is, ‘please bring Krispy Kreme to my town.’ Partnering with McDonald’s on a national scale will provide our fans and doughnut lovers unprecedented daily access to fresh doughnuts and the joy that is Krispy Kreme.”
I for one hope that joy comes sooner rather than later. There's something about a sweet glazed doughnut that goes perfectly with a coffee and one of McDonald's iconic sausage muffins. Now I wish I had gotten McDonald's for breakfast this morning.
