If you thought Missouri’s weirdest food might be Maid-Rites or the Paul sandwich, think again. According to a list from Far & Wide that names the strangest food in every state, Missouri’s pick is Provel cheese, a three-cheese blend that many find unusual.

Now, if you’re from Missouri and regularly eat this cheese, you probably think it’s just “normal” cheese, especially if you’re a fan of Imo’s Pizza. What makes Imo’s stand out from other pizzerias is that they use Provel instead of mozzarella, giving their pizza its signature taste.

Stinky Cheese

I’ve had Imo’s before, and as much as I love pizza, something about it just felt… off. If you didn’t grow up eating Provel cheese, and you’re not used to it, it’s definitely going to take a hot minute to get used to. Honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to adjust to Provel, because, let’s be real, I’m not the biggest fan of cheese to begin with.
