Missouri State Fair Idol Host Thom Fuller Retires

Another year of the Missouri State Fair means the return of the Missouri State Fair Idol competition.  This year will be different, as The Idol will go on without the long time host and originator Thom Fuller.

Thom called it quits after last year along with his trusty sidekick Stacy Purvis.  I don't know how many years and how many shows I introduced Thom to usually a standing room only crowd.  Thom, even on a 110 degree day would come out and get the crown going and get their attention right from the get go.

I'll never forget the first show we ever did.  It was well into the 100 degree range and even hotter in the Bud Tent, and Thom came out in his leather pants.  I thought he was crazy, and come to find out, he was!  Over the years we became good friends, and I know everyone associated with the Idol competition will miss him and Stacy both.  I'm not sure we will miss his awful jokes, except for that one about Kansas lol.

I know Thom, Stacy and everyone here at the radio stations want to wish Missy Mayes and her crew the very best of luck in her first year with the Idol.  Missy has been a judge many times, has a lot of entertainment experience and I'm sure she will knock them out at the Bud Tent.
