SPD Arrests Man After Disturbance at Break Time
On Wednesday night at 8:55 p.m., Sedalia Police responded to a disturbance that occurred at Break Time, 318 West Broadway.
According to a probable cause statement, the suspect left the scene prior to officers’ arrival. He got into an argument with a woman at Break Time. During the argument, 43-year-old Cal Avery Childers took the key to her vehicle.
Investigation revealed that Childers had puled his pants down in front of the clerk and she was able to see his exposed penis.
Childers was later located outside the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and the Officer approached him to ask what had happened.
Childers was initially cooperative and explained that he had been arguing with a woman and had taken her keys because she had taken his phone. He claimed she hit him in the face, but denied medical attention. Another officer arrived on scene to ask Childers about the keys that were taken.
The woman claimed she was hit by Childers. But no injuries were visible, according to the report.

While speaking to the second officer, Childers became irrational, took off his shirt and pants and showed his exposed buttocks to the officer. He then tried to bump into the officer backwards while bent over.
Childers was then placed into handcuffs and both officers attempted to take Childers to a patrol vehicle to sit him down, when Childers surged forward and dented the patrol vehicle.
Childers was then walked into the jail, despite Childers’ efforts to stop walking and falling over on the ground.
Childers was booked into jail for a 24-hour hold with a $500 bond.
Childers now faces charges of 4th Degree Assault, two counts of Resisting Arrest and Stealing.
Childers’ criminal history includes past convictions for assault, resisting arrest and stealing. He has also been arrested for property damage.
