Gentle Reader, you've been a time or two to see some great local entertainment at the Liberty Center Association of the Arts. I've been there to see comedy shows, plays, musicals, Christmas shows, live music, you name it.

And of course, the theater has been around for a long time. It started in 1920 as the New Lona Theater, and it being over a hundred years old, naturally there's going to be some wear and tear.

No, they're not asking you to work on the dressing rooms down in the basement or the stage deck or any of that. They're focused more on YOUR experience this time. They're not even talking about the stuff like the concession stand or where you get tickets or anything that's "front of house".  Today, they're talking about the part that's called "the house".

The Liberty Center is slowly replacing all their modular seating with permanent seats.

Our theatre still needs 55 seats to provide comfortable enjoyment to our patrons. Each seat costs $500. Would you be able to help us pay for a seat or two? Then call or visit our office in Sedalia.

So it's about YOUR comfort when you're going to see a show!

Admittedly, we all want to sit comfortably, and it's a very important factor to your enjoyment of the show. I remember NJ and I went once to see three guys from the series "Whose Line is It Anyway" perform live in Columbia.  The show was great, and the actual place was very pretty, but... those seats. They were so hard and so close together!  It really did distract me from what was a great show.  In fact, when the show was over, people started to leave because they were uncomfortable.  Like, before the guys came back for an encore.

It wasn't you, Ryan Stiles.

We just..... were all hot and incredibly uncomfortable.

We can't have that kind of thing happening for our friends, co-workers, neighbors, family members.... and all of those people are not only attending these shows, they're participating in them, as well!

So, if you can, why not donate a little?  Or pass the hat around the office?  Just see if it's something you can do, and if you can, try.   They'll be cool about it.  You can donate through Paypal, and you can ask them more about it at the theater, (111 W 5th Street), or you can call (660) 827-3228.

Donatingly yours,

Behka
