I guess I need to address a few things about my sports schedule.  I started getting questions this summer when I didn't do Bomber Baseball, and everywhere I go, people are asking why I'm not doing this or that.  I am not doing Smith Cotton Football this season, for the first time in many many years, and I didn't do Bomber Baseball.

Believe me, it's not that I don't want to or that I can't.  It's because I have a daughter, Abby,  a sophomore at Smith Cotton.  Abby plays four different sports, she had to narrow it down to three because at SC volleyball and softball seasons are at the same time.

As much as I enjoy doing play by play, I LOVE watching her and her SC teammates play ball.  They are only in high school for a short period of time, and then poof, they are out of the house and on their own.  I just don't want to wake up someday and say, "I should have went to see her play more."

This summer she was playing softball and basketball, and I went to almost every game.  Now that school is starting, SC first softball game is on Thursdays.  I will miss not seeing the Tigers play football, and my association with Coach Johnson has and is a good one, so good luck Coach, I'll be listening.

That brings me to my next point: we have hired Al McCurdy to do SC games.  That's right, my old broadcast partner!  I'd like to have a dollar for every game we called together, and hopefully we will get to do some SC basketball games together this winter.  I am glad he is here and we will continue to do SC sports.

My intentions are to continue doing SFCC Basketball games this will be year number 27 I think.  There will be times that there will be conflicts with SC basketball, in which case I'll be following Abby and Caleb, or Doug will pick up the slack.

School starts Thursday, Fall sports season is here, so let's toss it up, hit it, run after it, throw it, spike it, whatever it is, let's get out and support these kids and coaches.

Stay healthy, go hard and make Sedalia proud.
