Two Injured in Thursday Morning Crash on West Broadway
On Thursday morning at 7:07 a.m., Sedalia Police, Sedalia Fire & PCAD responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries at Broadway and Vermont.
Investigation revealed that a westbound Peterbilt flatbed hauling large, decorative stones, driven by Trace Alberswerth of Higginsville, traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a street sign, fiber hardware and a fire hydrant before returning to the roadway.
The Peterbilt then traveled across Broadway and entered the eastbound lanes, colliding with a Ford pickup driven by Ethan Jones of Cadet, Mo.
The collision caused heavy damage and forced the Ford to rotate 180 degrees, leave the roadway and come to rest south of Broadway.
The Peterbilt continued traveling in a southwesterly direction and left the roadway again.
The decorative stones became dislodged from the flatbed and were ejected from the truck, with one of them striking a Toyota Camry parked at a private residence at 511 West Broadway, which caused significant damage to the rear of the Camry.
The Peterbilt continued traveling southbound before striking a parked Hyundai Elantra at 509 W. Broadway, causing heavy damage. The Peterbilt pushed the Hyundai forward, where they both collided the residence at 509 Broadway, causing significant damage to the structure.
Injured were Trace Alberswerth, who suffered moderate injuries and was transported by PCAD to University of Missouri Hospital, and Ethan Jones, who suffered moderate injuries and was transported by PCAD to Bothwell Regional Health Center.
