Suspect Captured By ‘Burg K9 Officers and Joco Sheriff Deputies
Johnson County Sheriff Deputies and Warrensburg Police K9 officers Sgt. Adam Wade and K9 Negan captured a suspect yesterday, Monday, October 14, 2024, after he had evaded officers after a car chase on Sunday night, according to a post on the Johnson County Mo Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
Sheriff Deputies responded to the 1200 block of NW 400 to investigate reports of a man who closely matched a description of an armed suspect who evaded police on Sunday night.
The suspect, Dustin Street from Warsaw, had an active warrant out of Benton County for failure to appear on the original charge of Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Upon the deputies' arrival, Street fled under a bridge and into a creek, ignoring their commands. Sergeant Wade and K9 Negan were requested to respond, and K9 Negan tracked Street through the creek and dense brush, directing deputies to his location.
Street received an on-site medical evaluation by EMS and was then taken to the hospital for medical clearance. A warrant was issued today for Street with the following charges: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Posession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting/Interfering with Arrest for a Felony with a $15,000 cash-only bond.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office thanks the Warrensburg Police Department for their assistance. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
