Williams to Play Softball at Stephens College
Smith-Cotton High School senior Zakiyah Williams has accepted an athletic scholarship to play softball at Stephens College in Columbia.
Williams, the daughter of Lance Williams, is a four-time letter winner for the Lady Tigers.
S-C Softball Head Coach Amy Miller said: “Zakiyah Williams is a player with a huge heart for the game and a very strong personality on and off the field. She is a player who doesn’t always speak up but shows her dedication through hard work and performance on the field.”
Stephen College Softball Head Coach Clint Paulson expects to play Williams in the outfield and at second base.
“I think the biggest thing for her is the speed that she will bring to our program,” Paulson said. “Immediately, she probably will be one of the fastest players we have. In our sport, it’s always great to have speed,” he said.
