Warrensburg FD Performs Daring Rescue 100 Feet In The Air
The Warrensburg Fire Department responded to a mutual aid request from the Higginsville Fire Protection District on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, after a worker on Higginsville's water tower got stuck on the tower after a safety equipment malfunction.
A worker was working on the Higginsville water tower while wearing a safety harness with fall protection devices when one of them locked or seized, leaving the worker stranded about 100 feet off the ground. Warrensburg Fire Department responded to the mutual aid request with a tower leader truck with technical rescue equipment.
The Warrensburg Fire Department said on Facebook that it took firefighters about 18 minutes from their arrival to safely and quickly remove him from the side of the water tower. The worker was then transferred to EMS care, and the situation ended positively for everyone involved.
Later in the evening, the Warrensburg Fire Department responded to a residential fire alarm call in the Lake Ridge subdivision of Warrensburg. The first crew on the scene determined there was a fire on the second floor and quickly extinguished the blaze.
Fire officials reported via Facebook that the fire was confined to the room it started in. They credit the presence of a fire alarm system that quickly alerted the fire department and allowed for a quick response, which minimized the damage to the residence. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is believed to be unintentional.
