Kids, tonight we're gonna talk about one of those bands that came to popularity during the British Invasion. When The Beatles became immensely popular in the early sixties, radio and fans alike were looking for more and more content in that style.  They didn't really care what it was, just that it was British and modern.  So a lot of bands got radio play and hit records, and they weren't always bands that had the staying power of The Beatles.  Of course, for every Beatles or Stones or The Who, there were about ten bands like Gerry & the Pacemakers or The Swinging Blue Jeans.  But there are a few here and there that get forgotten, but don't deserve to be.  Like our band today, The Troggs.

Yes, you know The Troggs, you might just not remember the name. They did "Wild Thing," "With A Girl Like You," "Love is All Around," and this one, which is my favorite of theirs.

They were fronted by a guy named Reg Presley, and they were from the southern school of British Music, like The Who, The Rolling Stones, or The Kinks (The Beatles, The Hollies, and Herman's Hermits were more from the Northern School). They kind of petered out toward the end of the sixties, although they had a slight resurgence in the early nineties by working with alternative band REM.

So, enjoy your Trogg-Time.
