Okay kids, I'm sure that name doesn't jump out at you with  an "I know that group" familiarity.

But, you probably do know the song, you just didn't realize what it was.

That's The Vogues, one of their only big hits that wasn't a cover, "Five O Clock World".  It was used as the theme to the Drew Carey Show for a season or two, before he switched it to "Cleveland Rocks".  Anyway,  they were one of those American vocal groups in the tradition of the Four Tops or The Temptations, but not as indelibly successful.  They were from Pittsburg and originally were called the Val Airs.   This song came out in 1966, and the album had the same title.  It's still a great song, even if the group is almost forgotten.

Vogue-ily yours,

Behka
