I Need To Talk To Devoted ‘Shawna The Mom’ Fans

I'm sorry if you have no idea what I'm talking about.   But this one is pretty much for just the Shawna The Mom fans.  But if you become a STM fan afterwards and want to join in, go for it.  If you want to know the basics, she's a YouTuber/Tik Tokker who is doing a very relatable series about family dynamics.  She plays all the roles of men, women, and children.  Moving on.

There have been so many times that I have wanted to just shake Barb's shoulders and ask, "WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU THINKING?!!"

If you haven't been around for a long time, the Barb Vs Shawna Vs Jennifer thing has been pretty much there since day one.  But in the early days, it was more Barb and Jennifer vs Shawna.   But now that Jennifer is pregnant, she's become more Team Shawna, which I'm stoked about.

But I'm here today because I think a bigger confrontation is coming, and I want to pick your brains about it.   Basically, there's been a Barb Vs Everyone problem for a long time - but in the most recent story, it started at Max's 5th Birthday.

I admit, I was one of those people who thought Barb had something to do with the guests not showing up to the party.  I get that the most interesting plot point might not be reality, though, so while it would have been fun, it wasn't what happened.

But really the bigger plot point was already established, that Barb was continuing to overstep, deliberately.  She, after all, bought the exact present that John told her not to, and let Piper get into the cake.   And I don't buy for a second that she "didn't know" about the cake.

Which made another point of the "Cutting Out Barb" conversation.  And while the anniversary video was very good, another big point that's going to move forward with this is Barb's interference.  Jennifer is starting to see it with her "dropping by" while they were babysitting.

You know that was just a preview of what Barb is going to be like with Jennifer's baby.  She's already been that way for ages with John and Shawna.  And now, the latest iteration, Dinner with Jenn and Greg.

Admittedly, I saw the episodes in smaller segments because I watched them on Tik Tok, but it's good to see the whole story.  Throughout this whole dinner thing, it's making me wonder.

With the way Shawna's going with this, Jennifer is losing her patience with Barb very quickly.  Towards the end of the dinner, it just got more and more ridiculous.  Which makes me wonder...  what's coming?

There has to be a big moment coming. Like maybe Jennifer goes into labor, and Barb shows up even though Jennifer said no?  Or maybe it goes in the opposite direction, maybe Barb shows up, but does something perfect in the moment to make herself actually useful?   And what happens when Barb has to deal with the fact that Jennifer is going to have a girl (Well, that's what I think)?  Maybe Frank finally does something worthwhile here and deals with Barb appropriately?

I think I'm starting to get why Barb bothers me so much.  And why Frank bothers me.  Barb is very much like my mother's mother.  She and Barb very much subscribe to the idea that her children are always children, they will always need to put their mother first, and that her opinion is the most important. Not that I didn't love her, but it's very frustrating to have someone in your life who demands more space than you have.

Frank? He's useless.  He's just...... there.  Or at least he has been so far.  Maybe that's the key, maybe Frank will stand up for Jennifer when the baby comes. He did express some disappointment to Barb when she tried to ruin Greg's proposal, but when things got hairy in this dinner, where was he?  Off to the bathroom.  And he MUST have known they weren't invited to dinner!  He had to take his own car to the restaurant!  I hate that.  The "don't rock the boat" mentality.
