Last Friday night, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near South Ohio and East 16th Street because it had excessively dark window tinting.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a suspended license.

The driver was also found to be intoxicated, and had an outstanding warrant from Lee’s Summit PD. The warrant was issued on July of 2024, on charges of Harassment (By Means Other Than Phone)*. Bond on the warrant was set at $2500.

Anthony Lamar Melton, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender), Driving While Suspended, Operating a Motor Vehicle With Vision Reducing Material Applied, and his Harassment warrant.

Melton was read implied consent and refused to provide a blood sample. A search warrant was obtained, and a blood draw was conducted. Melton was booked in at the Pettis County Jail.

*The warrant, filed by citation, says Melton engaged in harassment for the purpose of frightening or disturbing the victim by communicating with an electronic communications device a threat to commit the felony of shooting the victim. He is, as a part of his bond conditions, not to contact the victim, or the victim’s place of employment, the John Knox Village Senior Living Community in Lee’s Summit.
