Nope it's not happening. Not that I don't like Halloween.  Don't get me wrong.  I enjoy a nice scary Halloween as much as the next person.  But I'm a little bit of a humbug I guess when it comes to the actual candy part.

In years past, I have turned on the porch light off and on.  One year I'd do it, the next year not so much.  Most of it depended on what day of the week it was.  If it's a Friday or a Saturday, maybe.  But a Wednesday?  Come on, calendar.  This ain't happening. I'm not going to have my doorbell going off every ten seconds after 8:00 p.m.  I may be ruining it for Husbando, but that's bed time for this bonzo.

Hopefully the neighborhood kids will understand. Actually, I don't know if many of the people on my block had their lights on last year.  I don't think so.  There are a ton of young kids in my neighborhood, so they were probably out doing the actual Trick or Treating as opposed to being home and giving out candy.

Don't most parents want to go to Trunk or Treats instead anyway?  It seems like it's much simpler.  Just go to a church parking lot, walk around for a few minutes, and BAM, candy haul.  Then you can go home, send 'em to bed, eat some candy and catch up on the DVR.   Well, I have taken the girls to both a Trunk or Treat and Trick or Treating, and I preferred the Trunk or Treat myself, so I guess that's the better option.  The kids won't really  know what it was like back in the day, though.  Walking around in your plastic mask in the cold with your friends, going door to door and talking about the guy who forgot about Halloween and went ahead already to Christmas.

So sorry, kids.  No candy at my house.  But I hope you have a great Halloween anyway.

Will you be turning on the porch light for the kids this year?  Will you be going out with a Trick or Treater?  What are your plans for Halloween this year?

Halloweenly yours,
