Guys, I am the first person to admit that there are times when I'm not the brightest bulb in the box. Sometimes, I am not the sharpest tack in the toolbox.  The hamster has died, but the wheel is still going.  You're rowing the boat, but with one oar.  And other phrases. It's part of my charm.

Well, turns out, even the likes of me can, in fact, be taught.  I saw this on social media the other day, straight from the Sedalia Farmer's Market.

Now I know what you're thinking. "What, they.... taught you how to season?"

NO.

GUYS.

Apparently that stuff has been growing in my yard off and on for decades. And I thought they were green onions.

I remember finding some of those in yards at family functions over the years.  I remember sitting on the grass and eating them.  I also remember cutting them out of my own  yard, and using them in dishes.

Like you would an onion.

But no, I used immature garlic as onions and apparently don't even have the taste buds to tell the difference?  Which I suppose wouldn't be a cardinal sin, right? Not according to Food and Wine.

Green Garlic ....immature sprouts look a lot like scallions but are actually baby garlic. They tend to be somewhat skinnier than scallions, but your nose will know. They have a fresh garlic scent, so if you aren't sure, just give them a good sniff.

So.... my  nose is broken?  Or... maybe I just ignored it and just paid attention to the visual aspect?  I don't know.  It's hard out here when you've been schooled by someone who doesn't know they're schooling you.

What's growing in your garden this year?  Have you made your way out to the Farmer's Market yet?  You should stop by, they'll be there Friday.  You can check out their Facebook page for the scoop.

Greenly yours,

Behka
