Kids, as you may or may not realize,  I am comedy nerd, but I am also a music nerd. I admit, often, the weirder it is, the more I like it. I'm one of the few who openly admits to actively liking "Revolution 9" on The Beatle's White Album, for example.  Sometimes, when I'm planning out the music for my show, I think about songs I'd like to play.  Some of them aren't right for our format, some of them are album tracks that aren't "hits," etc.  So I thought we'd start a regular blog here on the site to play and discuss some of those songs that I'd like to pull out of the vault, so to speak.

One group we play here on BOB Fm is The Avett Brothers.  They're a pair of brothers out of Concord, North Carolina.  I've seen them live twice, and they're truly an amazing songwriting force.  They've made a few albums and they're getting ready to put out a new one.  We play stuff off the last two albums.

Emotionalism, and I And Love and You.

I thought for our Secret Stash track today, we'd go back a little further.   I pulled an album track from their 2006 album, Four Thieves Gone.   Here's a live version.

Believe me, no clip will ever capture the energy and exuberance that they bring live.  The whole audience gets involved in every note, and the entire place stomps along with the beat.

Yes, there is a "swear" in it.  But, we play Pink Floyd's "Money" and they use that same word, so I think ya'll will be alright.   I love the urgency of the song's tempo.  I also like how the lyrics to the song emphasize the mundane (taking care of the dog), and also the more imperative issues (arguing and being able to work it out).

I'll do more of these from time to time, from both artists we play on BOB to artists we don't.  Sometimes they'll just be songs that I like, just because.

Why don' t you share a song with me?  Maybe a song you love that not a lot of people remember, or know?  Or maybe just your favorite song, period?

Musically yours,

Behka
