Can Kansas City Keep Magic Going vs Saints on Monday Night?
Monday night at Arrowhead the Chiefs will attempt to finish the first third of the season without a loss.
Kansas City welcomes the New Orleans Saints to Arrowhead with the national spotlight shining and the KC fans full throated. Advantage KC.
The Saints are 2-2 and on a two game losing streak, but they will be scrappy and the Chiefs this season tend to provide drama as opposed to thorough smack downs. To be fair they have played a tougher schedule than New Orleans and these Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Harrison Butker seem to be able to manage their way to the W in any circumstance. Advantage KC.
The team they have both played this season are the Falcons in Atlanta. New Orleans lost their game vs. Atlanta on a last second Koo field goal. Kansas City held off Kirk Cousins and the Falcons late to get the win. Advantage KC.
Rashee Rice is officially on IR now and the team is looking to involve JuJu Smith-Schuster and Justin Watson more with Kareem Hunt will get most of the carries out of the backfield again this week In Isaiah Pacheco’s stead. However, keep an eye on is again Patrick Mahomes and his habit this season of tossing interceptions. He has five.
New Orleans has a couple guys to look out for in the defensive backfield in Paulson Adebo who leads the team in tackles, passes defended and is tied for team lead in interceptions with former Chief Tyrann Matthieu. DB Alonte Taylor also leads the Saints in sacks.
On offense the Saints will lean heavily on Alvin Kamara to carry the load and try and keep the Chiefs from loading the box by having QB Derek Carr play action and spread his targets around.
The Chiefs defensive line are really good and will look to control Saints offense at the line of scrimmage. As always, if New Orleans employs a game plan that KC isn’t ready for, DC Steve Spagnuolo is excellent at making adjustments. Advantage KC.
