As I sat here looking for something to write about this evening, news broke that there would be no Chiefs rally if the Chiefs beat the Eagles in the Superbowl a week from Sunday. Yet, I know how a rally could happen if the City and the Kansas City Chiefs could put things together.

Fox 4 reports this evening that multiple sources have confirmed there will be no public rally if the Chiefs win Super Bowl LIX. They reported that a private ceremony would be held at Arrowhead Stadium for players, their families, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe, and Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. Then, the team will stage near Crown Center for a public parade that will begin at Pershing and Main, go to Grand, and extend up Grand to 6th Street. Yet there will be no rally at Union Station this year.

Putting aside the frustration and sadness of losing the rally at Union Station and the iconic photo op of a million Chiefs fans in red and gold, I have an idea for how the rally could still be held, although much much smaller.

Hold it at Arrowhead Stadium. There's plenty of parking, and the infrastructure for security screenings already exists, which should keep people safer than an outside rally where security can be complex outside of deploying a massive amount of police officers.

Granted, it would be much smaller than the sea of people around Union Station to celebrate, but you could get 76,416 fans into the stadium and set it up like a concert with jumbotrons and a stage. Open the parking lots a few hours before the celebration, invite tailgaters to fire up the grill again, and make it like a big gameday party.

If the motivation was there, and the Sports Complex parking and staff could handle it, perhaps the Royals could open the K to let even more people celebrate. They could broadcast the celebration on Crown Vision. It's not like the Chiefs players and staff couldn't walk across the tunnel connecting the two facilities and take a victory lap around the warning track to celebrate with the fans there, too.

It's a big ask to ask stadium personnel to report to work one more time, especially if there are team employees involved who might like to celebrate. There are also safety concerns and logistics that need to be worked out. But if they start now, I bet they could find a way to do it.

Come on, Mr. Hunt. If they three-peat, let's figure out how at least 74,000 Chiefs fans can party and celebrate with the team at Arrowhead.
