It's not really a secret that most of the rich and famous in Missouri live in gated and supposedly secure communities. How is it then that some of the most high-profile pro athletes in the states have just been victims of burglaries? Numerous reports say they have been targeted by professional crime syndicates.

In case you weren't aware, both Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce had their homes robbed just a few weeks ago. The crimes occurred while they were competing in NFL games. A new article by two writers at ESPN seems to know why.

The article says that surveillance video of the crimes involving Mahomes and Kelce show highly-sophisticated techniques where the perpetrators hid their identities and made it very difficult to track their crimes.

The NFL on NBC says that the FBI has gotten involved in the Missouri home robberies of Patrick and Travis and other pro athletes, too.

The crimes against pro athletes have become so frequent that the NFL, NBA and NHL have warned athletes about the safety concerns for their homes and lifestyles. The belief is that this is not the work of everyday criminals, but professional organizations that understand how to execute the robberies in high-security environments and escape with very little evidence about their identity.
