Alrighty everyone, it's geeking out time. You know with a job like mine, music is pretty integral to what I do every day.

And the thing is, while I love what we play on our stations, of course I like more than that! I mean, even hard rock would probably tell you they like Johnny Cash.  So, since I have a blog post I have to write today, and you, gentle reader, are here, why don't we just discuss it.

I'm a music nerd, and here are four songs I love, and one I'm kind of... annoyed with, but still love.  If you're looking for an earworm, or even to get a song out of your head with a fresh earworm, you're in luck.

1. Rosé  featuring Bruno Mars - APT

This is a lot more fun than a lot of songs out there these days.  Rosé is a member of the K-Pop girlgroup Blackpink.  They are, quite possibly, the most popular girl group on the planet. This is one of her first "official" solo outings (she did do a what they called a "single album" before, but this is her first full length).  And, just so you know, the hook is saying "Apateu", which is a slangy kind of way Koreans say the word "apartment".  To chant it like that is part of a a drinking game there.   She's from New Zealand actually, and she and Bruno really hit it off, their friendship is adorable.

2.  Jin - Running Wild

Admittedly, I just... I really, really like Jin.  He's the first BTS member to come back from his mandatory military service.  This just came out last week, and if I recall correctly, it's his first single entirely in English. He didn't get to put out a solo album before he had to go (He only had time for one single, but it was amazing), and now he's finally back and able to do a full album.  The video is fun, it's basically Jin and a dog (it's not his dog) on the run from the apocalypse.  They're just living their best lives, having fun until the inevitable end?  Kind of dark, but also...not really.  Fun fact!  This song was co-written by a guy named Gary Barlow. If you don't remember that name, you might remember Take That? It was the nineties.

3.  Youngjae - T.P.O.

This song came out actually earlier this year, but... it's a fun little bop.  Youngjae is a member of GOT7, although they're on a kind of indefinite hiatus  now.  That's remarkable because they're one of the first groups created by a company to leave that company, but stay together to record elsewhere.  Most of the time, after seven years, K-Pop groups, historically but not every time, tend to disband.  Anyway, Youngjae is a sweetheart and you can just see that in the video.  Oh, and "T.P.O" is an acronym. It stands for "Time (time), "Place (place)" and "Occitation (situation)", so he's, you know, trying to hang out with you.

4.  ATEEZ - Ice On My Teeth

This is the brand new single from ATEEZ.  And they're definitely having a moment right now, this was very highly anticipated.  They've been on an upward projectory for a couple of years now, and the hard work is paying off.

However.... man.  I personally am just... a little disappointed in this one.  The track is so fun, the music is beautiful, and the performances are amazing - the video is pretty good, too.  But...THESE LYRICS.  They're so stupid.  So, so stupid.

I bought diamonds at my dentist (Dentist)
I've been playing like tennis (Ooh)
Grand slam like tennis (Make it, make it)

To  me, it just seems like a wasted opportunity.   But like I say, the track is great. And ATEEZ are definitely worth checking out, I just think someone in the production team dropped the ball with this one. But damn, that track!  So good.

5.  Le Sserafim - Perfect Night

Now admittedly, this is also older (last year) but it somehow missed me until like, last month.  This is their first all English single, and it's a collab with the video game Overwatch 2.  I don't play that game, so that's probably how it got by me.  This is a fun little summerish bop that actually made me laugh out loud the first time I heard it.
