Open Door Service Center To Hold ‘Food & Fund Drive’ November 17
The holidays will be here before you know it, and what is a special moment for some, has others worried or depressed about how they are going to put food on the table for their family.
Open Door Service Center will hold a Food & Fund drive on Nov. 17 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at both Woods Supermarket locations in Sedalia.
All food items are appreciated except, please, no glass containers. Non-perishable foods are the best. Open Door will accept fresh fruits, vegetables, and meats that are in their original containers.
Foods like green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, turkey or hams, yams, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn, and canned pie mixes are great for the holidays.
Each year Open Door works to increase the amount of Holiday Food bags they give out to those in need, and their goal this year is 450, last year they gave out 350 bags, and the year before it was 250 bags.
Cash, check, or online donation funds help too, with keeping their utilities, building insurance and bills paid.
“We invite you to join our GEM Treasure Club by giving every month in any amount that works for your giving budget, “ Open Door said.
