Check Out This Chiefs Hype Video Paying Tribute to Arrowhead’s 50 Years
As the Kansas City Chiefs get ready to take on the Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium this evening four short days after their first victory, the team's PR department is backing up Chairmen and CEO Clark Hunt's statements that Arrowhead Stadium holds a significant meaning for the team with a new video.
I guess you could call the video a hype video. It's managed to get me more excited about tonight's game than I already am, and I'm not what you'd call a big football fan by any stretch of the imagination. (This piece was written the afternoon of September 15, in case you're reading it later.)
Yet, it's unlike any hype video I've ever seen. Most hype videos show the team's success through iconic plays, iconic calls, iconic players, and iconic moments in team history. They try to get you hyped by showing the potential everyone on the field will hopefully live up to again.
Yet not this video. It captures Arrowhead Stadium at peace. Empty parking lots. Empty seats. An empty stadium on perhaps a warm, sunny, sleepy fall morning. Yet it still manages to capture the history and magic the Chiefs and their fans have made at the iconic football stadium. Take a look for yourself:
If that video isn't enough to get you excited, the Chiefs also put this video out the other day, which contains what I believe (it sounds like it) is NFL Films footage from the original opening of Arrowhead Stadium in 1972.
I've said it before, and I'll probably say it again. The Truman Sports Complex is a great example of two modern stadiums designed well. It's nice to know at least one of Kansas City's teams that play there has an appreciation of that.
