It seems like almost daily anymore we lose another icon from the world of music. Unfortunately, today is no different.  Jon Lord past away today from complications from pancreatic cancer.  Jon was the man who penned the iconic tune "Smoke On The Water," along with tons of other great stuff.

Smoke On The Water was a song that just brought those times to life,  Every teenage boy from that generation wanted to learn that opening riff, and the second thing that song did was turned us on to Frank Zappa music.

Deep Purple history was steeped in the British blues, but wound up being one of the original "metal" bands of the '60s and '70s, and will always be remembered for "du du du, dududada!"
