Sedalia Police Reports for July 1, 2024

On the morning of June 28th, Officers responded to the 600 block of East 6th Street to investigate a report of a sexual abuse incident. Officers met with the victim on scene. She stated that on two separate occasions, someone residing in the house had touched her in a sexual manner against her will. Jesse Ray Snow, 66, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree. Snow was booked and released pending the filing of formal charges.

Sunday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of West 16th Street and South Harrison Avenue on a vehicle with a defective brake light. Officers discovered the driver of the vehicle had an active misdemeanor warrant out of Pettis County. Officers placed the driver under arrest and transported her to Pettis County Jail. Ariel Nicole Harrelson, 25, of Sedalia, was booked in at the Pettis County Jail on her warrant, pending a cash only bond of $194.00.

Friday morning, Officers spoke with Ryan Morris in the lobby of the Police Department. Morris reported a check was forged at the WK Chevrolet Buick GMC store, 3310 West Broadway Boulevard.

Friday afternoon, Tim Staton turned in a license plate to the Police Department. Staton stated he found the license plate in the 300 block of North Iron Avenue.

Sedalia Police responded to the 1200 block of South Grand Avenue for a report of a domestic disturbance Friday evening. Upon arrival, Officers determined two subjects had been involved and Officers were able to determine one subject had visible injuries. The other subject was determined to be the primary physical aggressor. Angie Marie Steeves, 43, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of felony Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree. Steeves was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.

Friday evening, Officers took a theft report in the Sedalia Police Department lobby from Donna Gentges. The theft took place in the 400 block of West Broadway Boulevard. Officers collected information and a report has been generated.

Friday night, Officers responded to a theft report in the 400 block of West 6th Street. Officers spoke with the victim, who stated a package had been stolen off his porch earlier in the day. Officers ran the subject’s information through Dispatch, and he was found to have an active Sedalia warrant for Failure to Appear. The warrant was confirmed and he was arrested. Dwight Albert Trester II, 62, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

Last Wednesday morning, Officers conducted a check on a vehicle that was running, parked in the alley near West 7th Street and South Moniteau Avenue. When Officers activated their lights, the vehicle began to drive off. Officers followed, and the vehicle stopped. Contact was made with the driver, and during the investigation it was determined the driver was intoxicated. He also had a revoked driver’s license. The suspect was transported to the SPD, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. The suspect was then transported to the Pettis County Jail. Pedro Marcos, 25, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender). Marcos was booked and released.

Saturday morning, Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Ohio Avenue for a report of a disturbance in which a gun was fired. Upon arrival, the subjects were separated and no one was found to be injured. One subject, who the report notes was intoxicated, was arrested. Melissa L. Miller, 27, of Sedalia, was arrested for Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Endangering the Welfare of a Child in the 1st Degree, and felony Domestic Assault in the 1st Degree. Miller was transported to the Pettis County Jail with bond to be determined.

Last Friday afternoon, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle without displayed registration in the intersection near East 19th Street and South Lafayette Avenue. Officers discovered the driver had a suspended driver’s license. Ariel Danielle Strahl, 29, of Sedalia, was cited for Driving While Suspended and Failure to Register Annually with the DOR. Strahl was released on scene with a summons to walk back to her home.

Saturday morning, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was not displaying its registration. The stop took place in the area of East 16th Street and South Washington Avenue. Upon further investigation, Officers discovered the driver had a suspended driver’s license. Yevgeniy Ivanovich Sonnik, 36, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Revoked. Sonnik was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Sedalia Police responded to the 2000 block of South Marvin Avenue in reference to a non-breathing subject Saturday morning. Officers arrived on scene with PCAD and determined the non-breathing subject was beyond help. PCAD pronounced the subject deceased. The subject was transported to a local funeral home. No foul play is suspected. A report was created to document the incident.

Saturday evening, Officers met with a subject in the lobby of the Police Department in regards to a violation of an ex-parte. The victim reported the respondent in the protection order had violated the order by sending messages and coming to their workplace. A warrant application was submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office.

Saturday night, Officers responded to the 1000 block of East 10th Street in response to a subject trespassing at the residence. The subject was located and found to be highly intoxicated. The subject was refusing to leave, so she was placed under a protective hold. Amy Rachelle Naylor, 41, of Sedalia, was placed on a 12 hour hold for safekeeping.

Sunday morning, Officers were called to the Comfort Inn, 3600 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a problem with lodgers. During the investigation, a subject was found to have three Failure to Appear warrants out of Johnson County. Patterson Ereichy Liwis, age unknown, of Warrensburg, was arrested for his FTA warrants. Bond was totaled to amount to $1250 cash only.

Officers took a report of forgery that occurred at Duke Manufacturing, 601 Duke Drive Sunday afternoon. Louis Davis stated he believed his signature was forged on a document by an employee of Duke Manufacturing. A report is being completed, and there are no suspects at this time.

Friday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a motorcycle with expired registration. The stop took placed near East Broadway Boulevard and South Hancock Avenue. It was discovered the operator had outstanding warrants from Pettis County, Johnson County, and Knob Noster. Paul Edward Averbeck, 23, of Knob Noster, was arrested for his three warrants. Averbeck was transported to the Petits County Jail pending a total bond of $1400.

Officers responded to the Sedalia Police Department lobby, 300 West Third Street, in reference to a found property report Saturday night, Officers spoke with the reporting party, and she stated she located a set of keys in the area of West 3rd Street and South Warren Avenue. The keys have been collected.

Early Monday morning, Officers responded to the 1300 block of East 13th Street in reference to a stolen vehicle. Officers spoke with Damien Hendricks, who stated that sometime during the night, someone stole his motorcycle. No suspects have been identified at this time.

Saturday evening, Officers conducted a warrant check in the 1200 block of East Broadway Boulevard. Officers made contact with the subject and checked his information through Dispatch. He was found for his warrant. Blaylock was transported to the Pettis County Jail, pending a bond of $511.50.

Saturday night, Officers spoke with Zachary C. Norton, who was a witness reporting property damage at Calvary Episcopal Church, 713 South Ohio Avenue. Officers checked the building, and found evidence of the property damage.

Early Monday morning, Officers were dispatched to a 911 call wherein a subject reported to need help. The address provided didn’t exist. The call was determined to be a prank. A report was completed to document the incident.

Sunday morning, Officers attempted to stop a silver Acura for running a stop sign near South Ohio Avenue and East 13th Street. The vehicle accelerated, and attempted to flee. While attempting to flee, the vehicle struck a tree near South Osage Avenue and West 17th Street. The vehicle was disabled. The drive was arrested, and drug paraphernalia was located in his pocked A computer check revealed the suspect had an outstanding Pettis County warrant. Hawk Frederick R. Hagston, 20, of Cole Camp, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs), Resisting Arrest, Reckless Driving, No Proof of Insurance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and his warrant. Hagston was transported to the BRHC by PCAD.

Saturday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had ran a stop sign on South Grand Avenue near Wilkerson Street. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Wilfrido Alejo Ubaldo, 28, of Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (Alcohol). Ubaldo was then transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.

Sunday morning., Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle they observed making an improper turn near South Engineer Avenue and East 9th Street. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver had an outstanding FTA warrant from Saline County., Ilia Tikhonov, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released.
