This article is compiled from the Sedalia Police Department crime reports.


 

Very early in the morning on June 3rd, Officers tried to make contact with a subject to return some personal property. The report notes the subject had no active warrants for their arrest or charges in their name. The subject decided to flee from Officers in the area of West 16th Street and South Grand Avenue. The subject left behind his bicycle. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.


 

Late last Sunday night, Officers responded to the 800 block of East 15th Street in reference to a trespassing report. Amy D. Barton stated a subject had been loitering on her property and left items there. The items were collected and entered into evidence for safekeeping.


 

Monday night, Officer Benner spoke to a subject over the telephone who had information had a report taken from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office. Officer Benner stated they were able to identify a suspect in the case through some investigation, and the information will be forwarded to the PCSO.


 

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the area of East 5th Street and South Engineer Avenue in reference to an intoxicated subject. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the subject was highly intoxicated, and had been laying in the roadway. Brian Burns, 64, of Shawnee Kansas, was taken into protective custody. Burns was placed on a 12 hour hold at the Pettis County Jail.


 

Monday night, Officers responded to the 1700 block of South Lamine Avenue in reference to a report of gunshots being heard. Officers arrived on scene, and located a male subject in the roadway with a gunshot wound. Medical treatment was provided, and he was transported to the BRHC. A suspect has been identified.


 

Late last Thursday night, Officers observed an individual riding a bicycle down the middle of the street with no lights on it. The individual was observed on South Missouri Avenue and West 17th Street. When Officers made contact with the intoxicated subject, he refused to identify himself. The suspect was arrested, and he began screaming and crying. Tyler Gene Cummings, 23, Homeless, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Cummings was fingerprinted and issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket for No Lights on a Bicycle, and Failure to Obey.

Officers took a report of property damage near the 23000 block of Cherry Tree Lane Monday morning. The value of the damage was estimated at approximately $200. No suspects have been identified at this time.


 

Last Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of West Main Street in reference to a theft. The reporting party stated a package was removed from her front porch. The package contained several items that were ordered from an online store.


 

On the evening of May 28th, Officers responded to the Wal Mart store, 3201 West Broadway Boulevard, for a report of a theft in progress. Officers made contact with the manager, who informed them the suspect was still in the store, and Asset Protection was attempting apprehension. A short time later, the suspect was detained. Curtis Tolbert Connell Jr., 50, of Eagleville, was issued a municipal summons for Stealing. Connell was then given a court date and trespassed from the business.


 

Officers were dispatched to a report of burglary in the 500 block of South Barrett Avenue last Thursday afternoon. Walter E. Doyal reported a suspect broke a glass pane on a door and made entry into the residence without permission.
