Sedalia Police Reports for June 19, 2024

Tuesday night, Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of West 6th Street in reference to a nuisance call. Upon arrival, Officers met with the caller, who complained of the odor of marijuana coming from the upstairs’ neighbor’s apartment. Officers made contact with the resident of the upstairs apartment and issued a citation*. Ashlyn Emalei Krug, 18, of Sedalia, was issued a citation for Residential Consumption of Marijuana.

Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to a report of theft that happened in the 1800 block of South Osage Avenue. Officers spoke to Jose Juan Torres and gathered information for a report. There are no known suspects at this time.

Sedalia Police contacted a subject at the Katy Depot, 600 East 3rd Street Monday evening. The subject was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Saline County from 2019. Cheyenne Renee Sutherland, 27, of Columbia, was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Sutherland was arrested without incident, and transported to the Pettis County Jail pending a cash only bond of $15,000. Another subject present had a warrant for his arrest out of Pettis County. The incident occurred in July of 2023, and the warrant was issued in October of 2023. After several hearings where he failed to appear, a warrant was issued in May of 2024. Noah Jaden Heston, 24, of Sedalia, was arrested for his warrant on original charges of Stealing. Bond for Heston was set at $1,000 cash or surety.

Tuesday morning, Katrina Burch came into the lobby of the Police Department to report his tail light was stolen off of her vehicle in the 300 block of McAnally Court.

*(Emphasis added by the author) With the passage of Amendment 3 by Missouri voters in 2022, recreational marijuana is now legal in the State of Missouri for those who are 21 years old and older. Smoking marijuana in public is also not permitted. Missouri State Law states "a public place is defined as any public or private property or portion of public or private property that is open to the general public." Those places include sidewalks, streets, bridges, parks, schools and businesses. Rental property owners can also prohibit marijuana use.
