Sedalia Police Reports For May 1, 2023

Sunday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West 3rd Street for a medical call. Upon arrival, a male was discovered. He was unresponsive on the bedroom floor. The male was cold and stiff in a warm environment. The coroner and Rea’s Funeral Chapel were contacted and took possession of the body.

Officers were dispatched to the Burger King restaurant, 1101 South Limit Avenue Sunday night for a report of harassment. The reporting party stated a subject was upset about Burger King’s gun policy and threatened employees if the policy was not changed. Officers made contact with the subject and trespassed him from the property. A harassment charge is being requested for the threat.

Sunday night, Officers took a theft report from Dennis Frett. Frett stated that several items were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at one of two businesses in the 4100 and 4400 blocks of West Broadway Boulevard that afternoon. There are no suspects at this time.

Sedalia Police spoke to Clifford Hutler in regards to a report of a theft Sunday evening. Hutler stated a suspect known to him stole various items from his residence in the 1000 block of South State Fair Boulevard. State charges of Stealing are being submitted.

Officers took a theft report over the phone from Kelsie Nicole Olson Sunday afternoon. Olson reported a bicycle was stolen from the 2300 block of South Babcock Avenue. The bicycle was valued at $164.00.

Sunday morning, Officers responded to the 100 block of South Grand Avenue regarding a commercial alarm. Upon arrival, Officers located a broken window on the West side of the business. The investigation is ongoing.

On the afternoon of April 28th, Officers assisted the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office in an incident which originated in the county, but then ended in the City Limits. One subject as detained, and then arrested by the PCSO at the scene.

Friday morning, Sedalia Police responded to the Police Department Lobby to take a report of fraud. Larry Yunt reported unauthorized transactions on his bank account, totaling $1,250.00. At the time of the report, the suspect has not been located.

Sedalia Police made a traffic stop on a vehicle near South Ohio Avenue and West Broadway Boulevard because it was not displaying a front license plate Sunday morning. During the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his BAC to be above 0.08. Herminio L. Cacari, 35, of Sedalia, was then transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on charges of felony Driving While Revoked and Driving While Intoxicated (Persistent Offender).

Sunday morning, Officers responded with Sedalia Fire and PCAD to the 1300 block of South Sneed Avenue for a report of an unresponsive male subject. When Officers arrived on scene, a male subject was located. The subject appeared to be overdosing. Officers began medical treatment on the male subject until medical staff arrived on scene. The male was later transported to the BRHC for further treatment.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for not displaying a front registration pate. The stop took place in the intersection of West Main Street and South Grand Avenue late Sunday night. During the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a Failure to Appear warrant from Lee’s Summit. Kaden John Radu, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested for his FTA warrant on charges of Following Too Closely and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Radu was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked, pending a cash or surety bond of $1,225.00.

Saturday night, Officers responded to the 2900 block of James Road for a report of a domestic disturbance. A victim was located, and reported several non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was also located and arrested. He was found to have active warrants from Pettis and Cooper Counties for his arrest. David Preston Miller, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested for his Cooper County Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Careless and Imprudent Driving Causing an Accident, and Driving While Intoxicated. His Pettis County warrant was another charge of Driving While Intoxicated. Total bond on the FTA warrants was set at $15,000 cash or surety and $549.00 cash only. Miller was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on the warrants as well as new charges of Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree, felony Tampering With A Victim in a Prosecution, and Property Damage in the 2nd Degree. Bond on the new charges was set at $25,000 cash or surety.

Saturday evening, Officers responded to the Bothwell Regional Health Center, 601 East 14th Street, for a harassment report. The reporting party was threatened by suspect several times. Charges are being requested against the suspect.

Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 1100 block of West 16th Street Saturday evening. Officers spoke with the caller, who stated his spouse had become enraged and started breaking things in the residence. This was confirmed by the suspect, who was then arrested. Elizabeth L. Silverest, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested for Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree. Silverest was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.

Saturday evening, Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 1500 block of South Marshall Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with subjects involved and then performed a computer check through Dispatch. One of the subjects had an active warrant for their arrest. Jessica Suzanne Jones, 44, of Sedalia was arrested for her Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Trespassing. A search incident to arrest discovered she had methamphetamine hidden on her person. Jones was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on the warrant and a new charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Jones was placed on a 24-hour hold, with new bond to be determined.

Sedalia Police responded to the Aspen Dental, 3503 West Broadway Boulevard in reference to a subject who appeared to be sleeping by the dumpster while the business was closed Saturday afternoon. It was discovered the subject had an active warrant out of Montgomery County for Failure to Appear on original charges of Driving While Intoxicated. Tabitha L. Mace, 40, Homeless, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked in on her warrant, pending a cash only bond of $320.00.

Officers were dispatched to the Blue Moon Smoke Shop, 1401 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a report of property damage Saturday morning. Overnight, a subject damaged several parts of the business, valued at approximately $2,655.00. The suspect has not been identified at this time.

Saturday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to a theft call in the 1600 block of South Engineer Avenue. A subject was located with the stolen items, and was arrested at the scene. Lori Lynn Hadley, 50, of Sedalia, was arrested for Stealing. Hadley was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.

Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Pettis County Jail, 319 South Lamine Avenue Friday afternoon to investigate a theft report. The incident occurred in the 500 block of North Washington Street. On arrival, Officers contacted an incarcerated subject, Darwin M. Potts. After information was gathered, it was determined the vehicle in question was in stolen. A general information report was completed to document the incident.

Friday evening, Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of West 16th Street regarding property damage. A fence was struck at the location, while backing out of the parking lot. Contact was made with both parties, and information was exchanged to file an insurance claim.

Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the 400 block of South Engineer Avenue. Officers determined a physical altercation did occur between two subjects on Friday morning. However, a primary physical aggressor could not be determined. A report was taken to document information in a 12-hour log.

Officers took a report over the phone Friday afternoon from Jean Vogel. Vogel reported a theft that occurred in the 300 block of West 10th Street. The stolen items were reportedly valued at $1,001.00.
