Kids, a lot of us in the working world interact with vending machines every day.  Maybe it's at your workplace, maybe it's something you stop by on the way home, or maybe it's just something you see all the time.

We here at our radio stations, we used to have a pretty normal vending machine in our break room.  It opened up for sodas, and the front was all chips and candy bars.  You know, the usual stuff.  Then, a few months ago, our Head Honcho thought that we should expand our horizons.  I thought this was a brilliant idea, as sometimes you do wish for a healthier alternative.   The vending machine started with stuff like edamame and other seeds, organic cookies, flax, and all natural sodas with other juices.  Over time, though, our old ways have won over the vending machine.

Healthy snacking?

As you can see there are still some healthier alternatives in there, like the smart fries and asian entrees, pop chips and the like.

Somewhat healthy.

But now Cracker Jacks, Pringles, M&M's, Baby Ruth bars and Mountain Dew cans are also quite clearly visible.  None of these things are by any stretch of the imagination healthy - but they are certainly delicious.   So I suppose we're a little bit half and half now, although our new machine does proclaim healthy foods galore.  I suppose it's like anything, isn't it?  You have to try to eat healthy, but sometimes you just need a Cheez-It.  If you don't, well, sometimes you get cranky or maybe a little strange.

This is pretty much normal for Doug.

Our Brand Manager Doug needs to have some Combo pretzels every now and then. If he doesn't, well,... who am I kidding?  He does stuff like this anyway, sugar and carbs fix or not.

What's your work snacking situation like?   Do you have a vending machine in your breakroom?  What do you wish was in there, or wish was out of it?

Snackily yours,

Behka
