Sedalia Police Reports for July 19, 2024

Wednesday night, Officers responded to the 1300 block of South Lamine Avenue in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim stated her ex-boyfriend came over and started causing property damage and caused some injuries. The suspect fled the scene before Officers arrival. The suspect has been identified, and state charges are being requested.
Thursday evening, Officers were dispatched to investigate a theft that occurred in the 1400 block of Liberty Park Boulevard. Michael Edward Williams said he had $500 worth of tools stolen from his vehicle. No arrests have been made.
Early Friday morning, Officers responded to reports of a subject at the Wal Mart store that had been lying near the doors after the store was closed. The subject was found to be trespassed from the property previously. Dwight Albert Trester II, 62, of Sedalia, was arrested on a charge of Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Trester was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.
Sedalia Police responded to the 100 block of South Lamine late Thursday night for a report of trespassing. Author’s note: At this portion of the narrative in the report, a section is redacted. “Officers located {REDACTED} one adult”. During the investigation, the adult was placed under arrest. Daniel Sheremeta, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested for Possession of Alcohol in a City Park and Minor in Possession of Alcohol. Sheremeta was booked and released.
Officers responded to a disturbance near the intersection of East 10th Street and South Ingram Avenue Thursday night with reported weapons. Upon arrival, it was reported that one subject had rammed a vehicle into another vehicle. Michael Connell Douglas Jr., 30, of Sedalia, was arrested for Assault in the 2nd Degree (Vehicular Injury). Douglas was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold.
Wednesday morning, Officers responded to the 1200 block of East 3rd Street for a report of found property. Contact was made with a male subject, who reported he had found a plastic bag that contained what appeared to be a controlled substance. The bag was transported to the SPD, where it was submitted into evidence for destruction.
Thursday afternoon, Officers were dispatched to the National TV Sales and Rental store, 1400 South Limit, Suite 10, to take a report of a theft of rental property. Officers arrived on scene, gathered pertinent information from the complainant and a report was completed.
Thursday afternoon, Officers responded to the Sedalia Police Department lobby for a report of harassment. A general information report was reported in reference to the incident, which was noted to take place in the 1800 block of East 5th Street.
Wednesday night, Officers were dispatched to the Sedalia Police Department lobby in reference to an ongoing Forgery investigation. The suspect was identified, and placed under arrest. Lawrence A. Westerfield, 26, of Sedalia, was booked in on charges of Forgery and Embezzlement (Stealing). Westerfield was placed on a 24-hour hold.

Wednesday afternoon, an Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Washington Avenue in reference to a property damage report. Carl McCallum stated someone took the screen and rubber caulking off of a window in an attempt to get into the residence.
