I Fulfill A Rare Childhood Dessert Dream, Made Outside (Photos)
Ya'll, when I was young, and this means back in the eighties and nineties, I was very impressed by cooking and baking I saw on the teevee.
You know how it is when you're young. You can watch your Mom make the best peanut brittle or cookies or cake or whatever, and you're always curious about what she DOESN'T make.
I remember seeing something once on the news, or rather, hearing it probably because I wasn't paying attention to whatever Bush Dukakis noise was going on. But I remember hearing about a reporter or someone baking cookies in the heat outdoors. I ended up making some cookies in my car as an adult. Like you do.
No, really, I did. You don't remember? I have the receipts right here.
So anyway, that was a decent success. And then came some cold weather here. I thought at first, can I make ice cream outside? But then that seemed like a lot of steps and a lot of work, and.... no. I just don't like to throw my all into a new recipe the first time I try it. I figure if I do the minimum when it comes to ingredients or time, and it works, great. If it doesn't, I'm not out much. And, if I like it a lot, I can always put more effort into it the next time, when I try it "for real".

So I thought again. What else could I make? Then I remembered! I have little to no memory of having yogurt as a kid. I only remember eating yogurt as a college student. So it wasn't something I was familiar with, which meant I wanted it in a way that is probably not natural. So this is my first attempt at making a Yogurt Bark without using the freezer.
Instead, I used....MOTHER NATURE.
Join me, fair reader, won't you?
Honestly, it's a little, what's the word. Crystaly? You know when something is a little too cold and it has a little extra ice on it? That's what it's like. But the flavor is great!
Have you made a yogurt bark? How did it turn out? Have you ever made a dessert outside like this?
Freezingly yours,
Behka
