Alright guys, here we are with another test, to see if the ideas of a big potato chip company translate into stuff you'll actually want to see on your table.

Or, you know, the snack cabinet.  Maybe you don't have a cabinet dedicated to snacks, but in my house, we do.  Anyway, this year, the flavors aren't as crazy as they have been in years past.  In fact, I wondered if they were deliberately picking flavors that they KNEW no one would vote for, just for attention.

Suuuuuurely a huge global corporation would never do something just for attention? Right.  Right.

End sarcasm.  No, we all know what's going on here, it's fine.  Every year Lay's does a big contest where they take customer submissions for ideas for new flavors.  Then, they put it up to a vote, and the winner gets money. I thought in years past that the winner not only gets money, but their idea gets made into a chip that goes on the shelves. That might have been the case in the past, but now there's no language that promises that in the rules. You just get money. Which, you know, would be okay with me. If the million bucks is too much of a burden, please, reach out. I can help.

They've had winners over the years like Cheesy Garlic Bread, Southern Biscuits and Gravy, and Crispy Taco, but.... I haven't seen much of those flavors after the contest.  Other flavors they've had, though, like Wasabi Ginger and New England Lobster Roll, I have seen, and are mentioned as "ineligible" for submission.

But these three flavors could be serious, actual contenders. No wonky ones this time.

2025 DUAF

Overall, I appreciated that they really were trying to pick flavors people would actually want to eat this time.  I don't know if you remember the horrors of Cappuccino flavored chips, but, yeah.  That was a thing.   For the most part though, these were generally a little disappointing.  They were all good ideas,  they just.... didn't deliver.  Of the three flavors, the Valentina was my favorite, and the Bacon Grilled Cheese was NJ's.  I'd say they're all great, but... none of them are worth a million bucks.

Tryingly yours,
Behka
