I don't know about you guys, but for ages I always had a problem sleeping. It seemed like I was always tossing and turning or never seemed to settle.Now in years past, it was because of an odd schedule. When I was in college, I was working over nights from midnight to 8:00 a.m., then I'd go to school til about three or four in the afternoon, then come home and attempt to sleep until ten.  That was, of course, hit and miss, especially with roommates.  Sometimes the neighbor's dog would just not stop barking, sometimes the TV was too loud, sometimes the light just wouldn't stop shining from my windows.  And sure, I got black out curtains, but.. it just wasn't natural to my circadian rhythm to try to fall asleep in the afternoon.  I'm sure you also know just how cranky it made me to  sleep for four hours a day.  Even if I was bone tired, sometimes it just wouldn't happen.

So as an adult, in recent years, I've developed some tricks to help put me down for the night.  I made sure to cater these to wintertime, because as you know, summertime sleeping can be an entirely different animal.  I may have to revisit these techniques when the hot nights come.  But for now, it's freegin freezing, and you need something to help you sleep, so here I am with my perspective.

Now keep in mind this is a process, and it's only how I do things. I start by making sure my bedroom door is closed about two hours before bed to make sure the heat stays in the room (my house is old with high ceilings, and I have two doors to my bedroom, so I shut them both to help fight off the cold).  Then, I do this.
