Is This The Worst Candy Bar In Missouri & The World?
When Mike told me he wanted to try "the worst candy bar in the world" during our Friday Happy Hour show on Mix 92-3 today, I thought this had to be an exaggeration. So, what candy bar are we discussing and is it that bad?
Zero Candy Bars
We're talking about Zero Candy Bars. If you don't know what a Zero bar is, All City Candy says it's "A combination of caramel, peanut and almond nougat covered with a layer of white fudge."
Hersheyland says the candy bar has been a "flurry for the tastebuds since 1920." Hersheyland says some folks believe the candy bar's name was inspired by its white fudge exterior that looks like a blanket of fresh snow. Yet, according to Wikipedia, the candy debuted in 1920 with the name "Double Zero," the implication was that the name implied the bar was "cool", as in low temperature.
Who Named It The Worst Candy Bar In The World?
According to Wikipedia, in October of 2020 Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal of "Good Mythical Morning" deemed the Zero bar the "Worst candy bar in the world."
You can find Good Mythical Morning on YouTube. They disliked the Zero bar so much that they buried it. I found their video, and it's posted below.
So Is It The Worst Candy Bar In Missouri and The World?
I wish we had recorded some video of us trying the Zero bar because we both hated it. I don't think there's anything else we ever tried on the radio that we disliked as much as this candy bar.
We both hated the white fudge, while I thought the almond nugget wasn't too bad. Neither of us liked the texture of the candy bar, either. Mike just hated it and compared it to some Christmas candy. I thought it might be passable if they got rid of the white fudge and replaced it with chocolate.
It's a candy bar neither of us will try again. You can listen to us trying it and talking about it here:
