Kids, if there's one thing that can be said about me, it's that I'm a human.  But believe it or not, I'm also a Beatle fan!  Okay, that was a terrible transition, but you guys know by now that sometimes I'm weird.

I've been a huge Beatlemaniac since I was about 13 years old.  I've discussed some of this in a previous Secret Stash post, where I mentioned one of my favorite Beatles songs.  But today is a special day to think about Beatledom - it's Paul McCartney's 70th birthday today!

Now I'll admit that my favorite Beatle in terms of actual songs and solo work is John Lennon.  But, I have seen a Macca concert, and it was amazing.  There is a great amount of love I have for the second half of the Lennon/McCartney team.  So I thought we could take a minute and share in some Paul greatness.

First of all, it's generally accepted by most Beatles fans and people who write about these things that Lennon and McCartney really only sat down and wrote songs together up until about Revolver, in 1966.  While they did write together occasionally after that, or filled in a blank for one or the other, generally whoever is the singer of the song was the one who wrote it from about Sgt Pepper on.  So it's safe to say that many of these songs that McCartney sings in the Beatles were primarily written by him.

Those are just a few, I could go on and on.  Now for solo work, there are also many many McCartney favorites.  I'll pick just a few.

And, like I say, I could go on and on.  I deliberately didn't pick huge hit records like "Band on the Run," "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Live and Let Die" or "Ebony and Ivory" because you already know those.  Most casual music listeners do.  I wanted to branch out into some stuff maybe you don't remember or didn't hear.

So, that's some of my favorite Macca Stuff.  Mr James Paul is 70 today, and I am gonna celebrate it up by pulling out my copy of Flaming Pie.  What about you?  What are some of your favorite Paul songs, Beatles, Wings or Solo?

Celebratorily yours,

Behka
