When I think of Billy Idol, I have a very distinct image in my mind. I'm pretty sure some of you do, too.  You're thinking of a spiky haired, snarling rocker that's rebelling against the establishment, right? The guy with the "Rebel Yell" who is rocking "The Cradle of Love" and looking for a nice day for a "White Wedding"! The one that scarred me for life by putting a ring on lady's hand and making it bleed on MTV.

You know, that guy!

Well something happened to Billy Idol over the years, but some of it apparently started at home.    It's part funny, part festive, and part... strange.

Let's look at these lyrics.

All the friends and family
Here on Christmas Eve
Gather round to dress
The Christmas tree
But daddy's down at the pub
Full of Christmas cheer
Probably won't come home
Until next year

So... yeah, it's a Christmas song, but maybe a Christmas song for the people out there who like their holidays a little more.....gritty?

Well, don't get me wrong. It doesn't get too crazy. Or does it?

Santa came down the chimney
But then he ran upstairs
Jumped in bed with Mommy
She didn't care
Across the room went the fruitcakes
Ah, the wreath came off the door
If these are holidays I can take no more
Every year it's the same old thing
Like Rudolph's red nose
Hearing this story will never get old

So.... Santa came, but ended up with his Mom, and someone threw fruitcakes? I don't even know. I do know, though, if you need something different, this is IT.

Yes, Billy Idol put out a holiday album. No originals, all standards.  So if you're looking for a little something different to play while you're out looking at Christmas lights... you can slip this one in your mix.

Rockingly yours,

Behka
